Laura + Cory: Awesomeness dipped in a big, frosty glass of kickass

Someone somewhere along the line forgot to tell this mild-mannered couple that they’re, well, mild-mannered. The bride and groom (and all of their friends and family) came to live, love and play hard on this momentous Saturday. Right from the start, the bridal party welcomed us into their celebration. Such hospitality can only help me get into a zone where my only concern is making the best images possible for my handsome clients.

Laura + Cory were so expressive and ridiculously open to my suggestions that I very nearly ran out of flash cards to shoot with. On a whim, I dragged them to Locust Tap, a vintage dive in Des Moines’ East Village. The bartender provided the fat Sharpie and our couple found a place for their names amid the chaos and I leaned hard on the shutter. Naturally, after the bar I took them to my favorite parking garage for some color.

Thanks for playing, Laura + Cory.

Jessica Hill - wow! amazing images and thoughtful words.. It’s nice to see a photographer kick it up a bit in their paraphrase of the shoot. I love that the wall had their names on it… the little details speak the loudest words :) Looking forward to meeting you soon.
